Vol. I, Issue 5
The Wespath team has continued to host Zoom meetings with many of the Plan Sponsors over the summer months and will be looking to finalize a few other sessions over the next few weeks. If you would like to set up a Zoom meeting with the Wespath team, please email Ross Lundstrom (rlundstrom@wespath.org) with a range of dates that work for you and the general topics you would like to discuss in a 45-to-60-minute meeting.
We have found the sessions helpful for connecting on plan document revisions, audit follow-up topics, updates, and discussions on General Conference outcomes and impacts within the areas. At any time in the future, if you want to have a virtual meeting with the Wespath team, please reach out.
Over the summer, the Wespath team has been busy developing the 2024 CCP Report that we will publish in fall of this year. This report is produced every other year to continue to inform, educate, and highlight the CCP program across the Church.
This year, we have added a risk assessment for each of the plans based on plan funding, plan management and compliance, and other sustainability considerations. Using the information from our CCP partners for example, the actuarial valuations from Willis Towers Watson (WTW) and audit reports from onsite visits by Holbrook Global conducted in 2023 and 2024 as well as the Wespath team's assessments, you will see a risk level measure for the three areas mentioned above as well as an overall plan assessment that appears as follows:
We believe that this report is a critical document to inform individuals across the Church and equally as important of connecting with those generous individuals that have donated to the cause of ensuring there are retirement benefits available for those Central Conference clergy. We look forward to sharing this report with you later in the year when it is finalized
As a reminder, Wespath will be working again with Willis Towers Watson (WTW) to prepare actuarial valuations for many of the CCP plans as of the end of this year. It will be important to ensure that your participant data files that are provided to Wespath are as accurate and complete as possible so that they can produce the most accurate valuation.
Additionally, the current plan provisions that impact the valuations are provided to WTW, so it is important that any revisions made to the plan documents over the last two years are sent to Wespath by the end of the 2024. We have worked with many of the Plan Sponsors on plan revisions, but in case there were changes that we may not be aware of, please let us know.
