Vol. XIV, Issue 10
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act on May 4—a first step toward “repeal and replace” of the Affordable Care Act. The bill now goes to the Senate for review, revisions and vote. The legislative process requires approval by both houses of Congress and then the President’s signature in order for a bill to become law.
At this time, the proposed legislation would have little immediate impact on HealthFlex plan sponsors or participants because many of the provisions would not apply to employer-provided group health plans. A preliminary summary of the American Health Care Act and its potential impact on the UMC will be provided next week via our Health Care Reform Update electronic newsletter and On Board Express.
