General Conference 2016 Changes Affecting Benefits Access

As described in the November 16, 2016 On Board Express, General Conference 2016 approved legislation changing the definition of compensation to exclude compensation provided in lieu of group health plan coverage. This change applies exclusively to a few annual conferences opting to sponsor alternative arrangements (i.e., local churches providing additional compensation in lieu of a conference-sponsored group health plan). However, all plan sponsors now see new and renamed fields in Benefits Access for Plan Sponsors, based on the General Conference action. Similar changes also appear in Benefits Access for Participants.

Reminder: Most conferences will leave the Health Care Compensation field blank.

Christmas and New Year’s Day Holiday Closings

Wespath will be closed on Monday, December 26, in observance of Christmas. Wespath will also be closed on Monday, January 2, in observance of New Year’s Day. Customer service assistance will be unavailable on both days.

Benefits Access for participants can be used to access account information and make transactions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, accessible by calling 1-800-851-2201, is also available for participants.

The Wespath Institutional Investor Portal and Benefits Access will be available for plan sponsors, conferences and institutions.
