DAC and CACs Now Available for 2022

The Denominational Average Compensation (DAC) and Conference Average Compensations (CACs) for jurisdictional (U.S.) conferences are now available for 2022. The attached document provides a complete listing, by conference name, of both the 2021 and 2022 figures.

In addition, the attached graphic may be of interest. It shows that while the total amount of compensation in the United States for full-time clergy has been decreasing the past few years, the total number of U.S. full-time clergy has been decreasing faster. Therefore, the average full-time compensation level has continued to increase. The DAC increased 1.8% this year, which is in line with increases over the last few years.

In order to use the DAC and CAC figures properly, please remember the following:

To accommodate the Church's advance budget planning needs, Wespath sustains a long tradition of calculating the DAC with a two-year lag. In other words, the 2022 DAC is calculated based on 2020 compensation data. There are no adjustments or projections to account for the two-year difference.

1 Denominational Average Compensation is a specifically defined term associated with the Clergy Retirement Security Program, including its Supplements, and the Comprehensive Protection Plan. As such, its name can be changed only by General Conference.

Retirement Status Update

Wespath aims to keep annual conferences apprised of retirees' status throughout retirement season. As of June 5, we have received completed applications from 647 ITRs, of which 88% (572) completed their elections online. Reminder e-mails will be sent this week to the 356 participants who have not yet completed an application for benefits to encourage them to submit an online application in Benefits Access or return their paper application for benefits. The Retirement Team is also calling these retirees to offer assistance and remind them that applications must be received by June 30 at 3:00 p.m. to receive a July benefit payment.

Please contact your Plan Sponsor Manager if you would like additional details specific to retirees in your conference. If you have other questions about the 2020 retirement process, please contact:
