The Lilly Endowment Inc. has provided additional funding to Wespath's Clergy Financial Well-Being Initiative (Initiative) for support of underserved, pandemic-impacted pastors. The Initiative recognizes that COVID-19 has had a higher negative impact on communities of color (Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American/Indigenous, Asian American/Pacific Islander) across the U.S. To support clergy of color and their families who have been personally and financially impacted by COVID-19, the Initiative is making funds available to match (or cover, if needed) the required $1 conference match for each $3 granted from the Farmer Fund of up to $3,000. (See description and criteria for the Farmer Fund in the documents linked below.)

Additional Farmer Fund criteria for applying for COVID-19 relief funds through the Initiative:

  1. Clergy identifies as a person from an underserved racial group (Black/African American, Indigenous/Native American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latinx, or other racially marginalized group)
  2. Experienced emergency financial need because of the COVID-19 pandemic

Applicants are eligible for up to $1,000 of additional matching funds from the Initiative to supplement the Farmer Fund matching funds requirements.

Subject to funding availability, applications will be processed as they are received. Funds will be distributed once the application has been approved.

All existing Farmer Fund criteria and application procedures apply.

To request the supplemental COVID-19 matching funds, please attach a letter along with the Farmer Fund application addressed to Wespath requesting the supplemental matching funds with narrative addressing the additional criteria listed above.

Please see linked documents: Farmer Fund Application, Guidelines for Farmer Funds, Farmer Fund COVID-19 Supplement Letter.
