Disaffiliation Information—Updated FAQs

Wespath continues to respond to questions and dialogue related to disaffiliations from The United Methodist Church by providing unbiased information for churches, clergy and others discerning their paths forward.

We've recently updated three FAQs documents. Each of these has two new questions and answers added related to fully funding the pension plans and funding long-term pension obligations for disaffiliating local churches. These newest items appear as the first two Q&As in each of these FAQs:

You can find these and other useful resources at https://www.wespath.org/about-wespath/wayforwardwespathfaq. Please share this information with others in your conference.

How "Well" Are UMC Clergy? Clergy Invited to Participate in Well-Being Survey

This week, 5,000 clergy were notified by email that they were randomly selected to participate in the biennial Clergy Well-Being Survey. During the first week of February, these clergy will receive an email request to complete the voluntary and confidential survey from Versta Research (on behalf of Wespath). This survey helps us learn how clergy are faring across the dimensions of well-being (physical, emotional, social, spiritual and financial) and helps us develop programs and services to address needs around clergy wellness, like last year's First Aid for Mental Health program.

You can watch a message from Wespath General Secretary, Andy Hendren, encouraging those selected for the survey to please participate on behalf of their peers and the denomination.

Participant Communication—Dimensions

This week, participants received the January issue of Dimensions, our quarterly newsletter covering the 5 dimensions of health. Articles include one pastor's journey of mind, body and spirit; CIO Dave Zellner's investment outlook for 2023; and the perfect winter weather recipe.
