General Conference Planning—Resources Available

As we prepare for the rescheduled General Conference for The United Methodist Church (April 23-May 3, 2024), Wespath is providing resources to help delegations discerning key legislation and potential impact on the denomination. These resources are available on our General Conference webpage:

We will be making more resources available soon.

Please contact us if you'd like a Wespath representative to meet with your delegation and answer questions directly. Wespath representatives are available for in-person or virtual (Zoom, etc.) meetings.

Newsletter Shares Matching Grant Update, Program Partnerships

This week, the Clergy Financial Well-Being Initiative's Newsletter shared information about several new programs supporting Clergy of Color, as well as an update about progress towards the Initiative's matching funds goal which ends September 30. You can read the full newsletter here.

Encourage Clergy and Lay Employees to Make Personal Retirement Plan Contributions a Priority

Because we care for those who serve – and want the best financial future for our participants in retirement – Wespath places a priority on increasing participation in the United Methodist Personal Investment Plan (UMPIP). We've noticed that some participants have either stopped making contributions or have never contributed to UMPIP at all, which can have implications now and in the future. Your Wespath client relationship manager will be reaching out to you to brainstorm ideas and provide resources to encourage your clergy and lay to make saving for retirement a priority.

Participant Communications

Participants were sent custom eblasts last week according to their participation in retirement and health benefit plans. This issue of the Wespath Update includes a reminder about Benefits Access, results from the Clergy Well-Being survey and the monthly Markets at a Glance video and Market Investment Report.
