Participant Communication—Opportunity to Update FSA Contributions after Annual Election

Recently, the IRS increased the Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) limit for 2024 from $3,050 to $3,200. Because this change occurred during Annual Election, we are giving participants who elected the previous maximum amount the opportunity to increase their contribution by next Monday, November 27. Below is a copy of the email that was sent to participants who elected to contribute $3,050 to their FSA:

Hello! We are reaching out because you chose to contribute the maximum amount ($3,050) to your Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) during the 2024 Annual Election period. Recently, the IRS increased the HCFSA limit for 2024 to $3,200, so we are providing you a limited window to increase your HCFSA contribution to the new maximum even though Annual Election has closed.

If you wish to increase your HCFSA contribution, please complete the following steps by 11:59 p.m. Central on Monday, November 27, 2023.

  1. Log in to Benefit Access
  2. Under Make Health Accounts Work for You, click “Update your FSA” in the 4th bullet.
  3. Select your Name in the top right corner.
  4. Under Transactions, choose Change My Benefits.
  5. Select the drop down for Enrollment and choose Update HCFSA Contribution.
  6. Follow the prompts to update your contribution amount.

If you take no action, your contribution amount will remain at $3,050 for the 2024 plan year. You can review the amount you elected by selecting the Benefits Summary within the benefits portal.

As a reminder, you must update your 2024 HCFSA Contribution by November 27, 2023 in order to increase your contribution to the new 2024 HCFSA maximum.
