In March, many states instituted shelter-in-place orders, closing churches and businesses not deemed "essential." Although Wespath also transitioned to a distanced work model, the need to support our participants did not wane, as the federal government shared quickly evolving information and passed legislation that impacted many participants in our plans. We developed a communication strategy that was designed to streamline the communications sent to our participants while ensuring that they were apprised of important information about their benefits and services available from Wespath.
Below is a summary of recent communications from Wespath to your employees.
A webpage at wespath.org/about-wespath/Coronavirus, where we share current news about COVID-19, including health and safety information, detailed analyses of legislation, and updates to our programs and services. There were 753 visits to this page in June 2020, and 8,548 visits since it was launched on March 10, 2020.
The Wespath Weekly Update, a weekly participant email, which allows us to share important and timely information, explanations of recently-passed legislation, one-page information sheets, Q&As, videos and details about educational opportunities. These weekly e-blasts are read by over 40,000 participants.
The Benefits at a Glance Participant Video Series featuring Wespath staff who have provided information on CARES Act distributions and hardship loans, annuitization, managing accounts on Benefits Access, managing stress, COVID-19 health and safety support, virtual education opportunities and more.
Participants for whom we don't have email addresses were sent a letter in June summarizing the communications we had sent to that point and encouraging them to update their contact information so that we could include them on future e-communications.
