General Conference 2019 Update

A summary of the Wespath-related legislation that was approved by the 2019 General Conference is available. As communicated in a prior OnBoard Express, we will continue to analyze outcomes and communicate appropriately. Wespath will be making updates to the FAQ page in the next week to continue sharing consistent and accurate information. In the interim, this summary document can be used for reference. The document will also be shared with Communicators and posted to the Wespath website.

Conference Forum and HealthFlex Summit—Registration Open

As previously communicated in the October 2, 2018 On Board Express, this year’s Conference Forum will be held April 10-11, 2019 at the Hyatt Lodge at McDonald‘s Campus in Oak Brook, Illinois.

A mini HealthFlex Summit will be hosted starting at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9. A lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m. prior to the start of the Summit. If you are a HealthFlex plan sponsor, please plan to enjoy lunch and hear updates on the healthcare program offerings at this time.

Registration for the Conference Forum and HealthFlex Summit is now open. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 15.

Conference Forum attendees will participate in conversations regarding developments within the Church and Wespath as it relates to benefit topics. Some of those topic areas will include:

• General Conference ’19 Outcomes and the Impact to Annual Conferences
• Legislative Proposals for General Conference ’20 including New Plan Design
• Report from the Connectional Table on Recommendations for Allocations of the 2021-2024 Quadrennial Budget
• Economic and Investment Overview
• Legal and Tax Law Modifications that Impact the UMC, Churches and Participants
• Actuarial Results and Expectations for the Defined Benefit Plans

HealthFlex Summit attendees will hear about recent results and future improvements to the plan, including:

• Financial trends and analysis
• Plan enhancements
• How we use data to inform our strategy
