Vol. XVIII, Issue 39
Given that there are several short news items and reminders we want to share with you today, we are trying something new for the HealthFlex Express format. Here is a roundup of important things for you to know:
The IRS announced on November 10 that it has raised the maximum contribution limit for a health care flexible spending account (FSA) to $2,850 and the maximum carryover amount from 2022 to 2023 to $570. These are increases of $100 and $20, respectively. We are still exploring how and when BenefitSolver, our annual election (AE) administrator, can allow participants who have not yet enrolled to contribute $2,850 to a health FSA when they select their benefits. We are also determining how to communicate to participants who have completed AE and contributed the old maximum amount to an FSA. Look for more information to come.
As was mentioned during the HealthFlex Summit, beginning in 2022, HealthEquity® will no longer charge participants who have a health savings account (HSA) a $2 monthly fee if the balance in their account is less than $5,000.
If you were not able to attend the HealthFlex Summit or if you would like to review any of the presentations, the video recordings of the first and second day of the Summit are now available. Presentation materials were shared in a previous HealthFlex Express.
This week and next week we will provide plan sponsors with AE status reports that show which participants have made elections and a breakdown of which plans people have enrolled in for 2022. On December 3, after all election audits have been completed and manual forms have been processed, we will provide plan sponsors with the final AE report. The final AE report will contain the 2022 elections that will be sent to the carriers.
Individuals will not be able to use the Virgin Pulse® website and app late on November 12 and early November 13 while the company performs scheduled maintenance to the platform. The work is scheduled to begin at 11:00 p.m., Central time, November 12 and it is set to last for up to six hours. Individuals who try to use Virgin Pulse during the maintenance window will see a notification that work is being done on the platform.
